We are looking to recruit a project engineer (Section 38 engineer) the position is based in Winchester

Experience

The ideal candidate will either have experience of designing and delivery of highway design for adoption or experience of reviewing highway design to facilitate the construction and adoption of constructed carriageway as well  experience of either designing or reviewing of drainage design for adoption.

Ideally familiarity and history of use of Design Manual for Roads and Bridge (DMRB), Manual of Contract for Highway Works, Manual of Streets, TSRGD and Traffic Signs Manual will be beneficial.

The ideal candidate will be expected to work independently with minimum support carrying out detail design checks of information submitted by developers to facilitate the implementation of Highway Act Section 38 and 278 work.

Responsibility

Undertake design checks of section 38 agreement submissions by developers

Inspect the construction of proposed adoptable highway works

Keep details of records

Update filing systems on progress and status

Recommend road agreement certification at appropriate stages

Qualification

HNC / Degree in relevant discipline

Several years of post qualification experience

Ability to communicate at all levels

Experience of either designing or reviewing highway and drainage design with limited direction

Working conditions

Mainly office based

Regular visits to site

Working hours

Full time and Part Time hours available
